Jupiter 2 – My Uniform wanted a design for stand 626/3 matching the theme of stand 626/2. The design had some challenging factors as privacy was a necessary that had to be incorporated. The entrance also had a different approach. The original 626/2 was used as a basis for the new design and optional space creation was applied throughout the design process. A loft was introduced to the design made possible by the new entrance. Further additions were to add en-suite bathrooms to all the bedrooms. Various earthly colours and textures was used in a contemporary South African style. A lot of detail was incorporated in the design to create warmth and a luxury home for the modern family.

Castello – The villa was built with passion. This passion is rooted in experiences gathered by building, reading, visiting, touring and talking about discovering what should be – Villa Bella.

The Villa stands proudly on the hilltops of Waterkloof Ridge, Pretoria. This exceptional house has high ceilings, special building details, different plastered corbels, coloured stucco finishes and wonderful views.

When you visit the villa, you will sense that it was owned and built by a 16th century Italian farmer, with vineyards and olive groves covering the slopes of his estate. His workers shared his passion. All details like corbels, vaults and columns were constructed in situ on site. No pre-cast concrete products were used. This is his passion. He knows what he wants – and he has fun doing it. His only concern is that the cypresses and lemon trees should grow stronger before winter. He is proud of the way that the villa beams, either with the ambiance that it reflects, or the rich colour of the villa at sunset.

On warm summer nights you can hear laughter in the quaint pizza courtyard, smell the aroma of freshly baked foccacia, taste the bouquet of vinno rosso and hear a delicate breeze blow through the gardens. The home-built pizza oven and simple water feature lure you closer to your resolution to have more special moments in your life…… And this is only one of many areas to be explored!

O yes, do not fear, we have an ultra modern lift servicing three floors. You could envisage the lift, two central vacuum systems, under floor heating, air conditioning, emergency standby generator, central speaker system, roof pool and lots more as modern add-ons to make life easier for you to stay in this splendid villa.
Enter the property from the south. The stucco plaster finish on the walls is the first impression. Keep to the left towards the open parking and the Porte Cochere, or turn right to a 220m² lower floor area that you could use according to your needs.

Four garages fit in next to the Porte Cochere. Follow the imposing walkway to the entrance of the villa. You’ll pass the private garden with wishing well nestled between stonewalls and natural rock.

Enter through the front door and experience the formal ground floor with study, imposing foyer with triple volume, spiral staircase, minstrel gallery, vaulted dining room, formal lounge with gas fireplace, kitchen areas, ladies and gents powder rooms, cloakroom, covered entertainment area with gas barbeque, private pizza yard and two en-suite guest bedrooms.

Follow the wide staircase down to the northern lower level to find the sauna, steam shower, ladies and gents, catering room, library, wine cellar and family room with open fireplace. You could exit the house from here to the northern terrace with the roman pool and lawn big enough for a large function including a marquis tent. A service road connects this area with the main entrance on the southern side.

Walk up the elegant sandstone staircase to the open balcony on the ground floor and either follow the spiral staircase to the first floor or use the ultra modern elevator.

The private first floor is meant for the family with the main and children suites, gym with balcony, TV room, family kitchen with dining area and balcony with heated spa-pool and barbeque. Privacy and security was the main reason for this area. A sun-downer next to the pool with endless views over a lush green Pretoria is just what you need to relax before dinner.

The main bedroom suite consists of a foyer, safety closet, a walk in vault/safe, his and hers bathrooms, his and hers walk in cupboards, a winter cupboard, kitchenette and private balcony.

Leave this private floor and again follow the spiral staircase or take the elevator to the roof balcony. This balcony, nestled by the upper sections of the bedrooms, the staircase tower and the elevator tower, is an artist dream with a tea and roof garden. The garden furniture, bakery racks, pot plants and murals are fitted between the structures on this floor. Walk under the bridge and pergola to fulfil the picture of an enthusiastic artist painting the landscaped views. Enjoy the different roofs standing proud from the bottom to the top of the villa. The elevator would help with all heavy articles to be carried to and from this floor.

Just a few steps up and around the elevator tower, over the bridge to the main tower, and you are at the gazebo right on top of the villa.

This is an experience easier describe to others after visiting the gazebo. An elevated 360 degree view just so different from what you envisage.

We take the elevator down to the ground floor to explore the kitchen and outbuildings. The centre of the kitchen is a Boccuse gas/electric stove with extractor canopy. The cupboards were made of “old” wood to match the decor of the kitchen. An air-conditioned pantry and scullery with laundry shoot from above finish the kitchen experience.

A laundry room with large linen store are part of the outbuildings. This is next to the luxury three bedroom staff quarters with its own view overlooking the southern greenbelt valley running through the Ridge

Groenkloof - Mediterranean Flair – This remarkably unusual home brings together a dynamic combination of interesting factors. The owner wanted a fusion of old and new with was enhanced by the abundant inclusion of stone, Technistone and Stucco plaster finishes in both the interior and exterior of this home. The architectural design is ultimately about the evolution of the smaller detail. There was a challenge behind this construction – the home has been constructed on a steep slope. To meet this challenge, the home was created with three floors. The futuristic element of this ensemble stems from the company, My Uniform, which fathered its conception. The home owner work with what can be termed as a project management company, which provided everything from architectural knowhow, to landscaping finesse, with everything in between. What was truly remarkable about this type of service however, was that the relationships and collaboration between the various forces – the engineer, architect, quantity surveyor and interior designer – were especially familiar with one another, stemming from long history of close cooperation on previous projects. The home contains so many differing elements, yet there was a true conjunction and easiness that pervades, all stemming from its seamless execution.
